Happy New Year, BlockHeads!

Yes, yes, we know. The year is already “three weeks gone.” But around here, time moves differently, because momentum never really stops. Still, we could have wished you earlier, and now that we finally are, please don’t say “too late.”

It has officially been three months since Blockfest Africa 2025 shut down the Landmark Event Centre and shook the ecosystem, and somehow, the momentum is still very much alive.

So let us catch up.

First, Thank You

Thousands of you have been block-ing with us since October.

Some of you were in the hall.

Some of you tuned in virtually.

Some of you watched the highlights later.

However you showed up, you’re part of the story now

Oh, and About the Family Name…

Over time, I have gone through your comments across our socials, and one thing was clear, you all did not hold back with the name suggestions. I saw everything, even one wild gem like “Blockers.” Whoever dropped that, we need to talk. I do not want to say it was Kiki.

And honestly, picking from those suggestions was harder than choosing a favorite Layer 1. But after going through everything, arguing internally and laughing a bit too much, we are sticking with BlockHeads for now.

Hey, do not blame us. We just cannot stop thinking in blocks.

Still, the door is open. If you feel you have got a name that hits harder, that carries the weight and identity of this movement, drop it in the comments. The block decides.

Now speaking of decisions…

Let’s Address the Elephant in the Room

We’ve spent the last few months reading DMs, comments, threads and yes, even one tear-stained voice note (you know yourself).

A lot of you were disappointed about not being selected or approved to attend. We intended to address this much earlier, but couldn’t at the time. Now that we’re finally saying it, please don’t say “too late.”

So let’s clear this up once and for all:

You were not rejected.

You were simply more than the hall could hold.

Over 15,000 people registered, while the venue could safely host 5,000 humans, 0.2 robots, and about 5 overwhelmed security guards.

If it were left to us, we would have opened the gates and let every builder in. But physics said no, the venue said absolutely not, and Lagos crowd control said do not even try it.

Next time, we’re thinking bigger halls, bigger screens, and bigger everything you wished we’d done. And yes, we mean that.

We know we could have communicated this earlier. We own that. And now that we have, please don’t say “too late.”

South Africa, You’re Up Next

Yes, the next Blockfest city is loading.

South Africa has been saying hello ever since we hinted at what is coming next.

If Lagos was the heartbeat, South Africa is what?

We are still thinking about that.

Renew that passport if it’s expired because the Mother City is calling.

Different vibe.

Different culture.

Same mission:

Buidl. Bridge. Become.

Meanwhile, the Ripple Effects Are Still Real

Since Blockfest Africa, here is what we have been seeing.

‣ Partnerships that started in queues are now full projects.

‣ Several attendees have secured internships, roles, and paid work.

‣ New startups have formed from strangers who met that day.

‣ And the media still will not stop calling.

This shows one thing clearly.

Blockfest is not just an event.

It is a movement with real momentum.

This Year’s Promise

2026 is the year Blockfest expands with more events, more cities, more access, more opportunities, and more seats at the table.

Most importantly, nobody left outside the door.

If Blockfest 2025 was ignition, 2026 is motion.

And we are only just getting started.
